This course offers a unique tutorial format in which the principles of mundane astrology are demonstrated through historical case studies and investigation of contemporary global events. This 5-month online course is delivered as 15 weeks of instruction with periodic breaks, and builds upon the principles laid out in the STA Practitioners Level Horary Astrology Course.
This course provides a comprehensive theoretical overview of mundane astrology and focuses on the most useful and reliable principles of judgement. This program is designed for intermediate-level astrologers who have successfully graduated from the STA Practitioners Level Horary Astrology Course. There are no additional prerequisites.
Our course draws from the rich Ptolemaic inheritance, incorporating material from the ancient, medieval, and Renaissance periods – brought together in a style of synthesis which prioritizes the horoscopic angles and recurrent signatures across time and geography. By applying these historical approaches to both past and current case studies, students gain a practical understanding of how to use mundane techniques effectively in modern contexts.
There is no shortage of technique that one can reach for in this subject. As so often is the case, the simplest path is the most effective. For this reason, this curriculum focuses on reliable core methodologies, setting aside the many auxiliary methods scattered among the tradition’s peripheries. Our principal study includes the analysis of cardinal and planetary ingresses, lunations and eclipses, planetary cycles, and event charts.
The format of this course has been specially developed to maximize the advantages of online delivery. Fifteen session themes (including a farewell and closing advice session) are delivered over five months through a combination of supplied course notes, modern media presentations, online tutorials and set assignments. Each student studies at their own pace and within their own time, but always with easy access to guidance and support from the tutors, and with the benefit of supplementary discussion on session forums. As the material can be dense at points, we have many scheduled review breaks.
A typical session will include: a live presentation (attendance is optional – these are recorded and can be watched or reviewed in your own time); a reading and self-study assignment; workbook activities or additional example charts to help you prepare for the session assignment; an online assignment which tests your understanding of the session’s main principles; and, an answer key which provides extra follow-up material, and more information on points arising through taking the assignment. No outside material is required for successful completion of this program.
Tutors deliver and guide the week’s course content, review student assignments, give personalized feedback, and are always available for questions and clarifications. We encourage students to engage in group interaction through forum discussion. To enhance the learning experience, this course features optional guest lectures from world-leading experts in mundane astrology.
Course content (subject to reasonable amendment):
Details of the tutors and lecture times/dates are provided in the prospectus for each course. The course also provides an active forum for group discussion and off-syllabus office hours which provide further opportunity for engaging with course material. Our courses have gained a great reputation for its excellent level of tutor interaction and student engagement, and no one will miss the opportunity to have their questions addressed in a timely manner by a dedicated tutor team.
