STA Practitioners Level Medical Astrology Course: Online

STA Practitioners Level Medical Astrology Course

Overview:

Read more about the philosophical principles and historical standing of Medical Astrology here.

This is the most complete, philosophically rich and practical course on decumbiture and medical astrology techniques available to astrologers. Written by renowned world expert J. Lee Lehman, PhD, the STA Medical Astrology Course offers a unique tutorial format, in which the principles of medical astrology are demonstrated through genuine client-charts and informative historical examples. Explanations of philosophical principles and traditional medical techniques lie at the heart of the study, but the method is also explored and demonstrated in detail. The course is highly practical and geared towards the consulting needs of modern astrologers whose clients live in a modern world, but who wish to understand their circumstances from a more holistic viewpoint.

It is not necessary for astrologers who wish to take this course to have previous experience in medical astrology. However, it is necessary to have good understanding of horary principles and technique. The STA Practitioners Level Horary Course is an excellent pre-requisite for this Advanced Practitioners-Level Medical Astrology Course.

Study groups are limited to ensure plenty of individual attention, and lessons take the form of tutorials with follow-up discussion, chart examples and practical exercises. Throughout, students are taught how to extract meaningful details and sharpen their judgement, and each lesson allows the opportunity to consolidate what is taught through periods of practical application. The course is designed to offer knowledge of traditional doctrines in a balanced way, so that theoretical principles enlighten and facilitate (rather than overwhelm) the creative aspect of astrological interpretation.

The course includes a comprehensive set of reference notes, tips and instructions, with numerous example chart judgements, and resources that are unavailable elsewhere. It offers certification, so that by the end of the course any astrologer who is already capable of offering a professional astrology service will be appropriately prepared to explore health-related problems according to the traditional principles of astrology.

Syllabus:

This course offers the STA Practitioners Level Medical Astrology Course in a format that has been specially adapted for online delivery. Lessons are structured as tutorials followed by group discussion with in-the-moment exercises, thought-provoking questions and consolidation of principles through practical application of demonstrated technique.

20 lessons are delivered on a weekly basis over a period of 16 weeks, through a combination of supplied course notes, modern media presentations, and online tutorials. Students study at their own pace and within their own time, but always with supplementary group discussion and access to the tutor.

A typical session will include: a live presentation, reading, an individual assignment (e.g., chart examples or workbook activities) and an assignment which encourages group interaction (e.g., forum discussion). Each week Lee will guide that week's course content, review student assignments, give personalized feedback and be available for questions and guidance.

(Following completion of the course, graduates receive access to the STA GRADS Facebook page, where STA tutors join with past graduates to engage in private discussion of particular points or complexities that arise in client charts. The page is used as a means for the STA to offer ongoing support to any astrologer that has undertaken this course.)

The available places on this course are limited to 12 participants, to ensure that the study groups are friendly and supportive, with everyone able to receive a great deal of personal attention.

Students receive their own set of personalised course notes which includes explanations of key principles, workbook-style activities, example medical astrology charts and answer sheets. This student workbook will also be cross-referenced with Lee Lehman's book, Traditional Medical Astrology, which acts as an accompanying text-book for the course (please plan to bring a copy of this text with you, or email Lee to arrange purchase of your own copy at the event).

Dates and times:

Course sessions are delivered once a week. The course schedule is designed to enable most students throughout the global community to attend many of the live, interactive deliveries of the course material, with the knowledge that few students will find it convenient to attend every class. It is not essential that the live sessions are attended as each of them are recorded and made available for later access and review. We do recommend that each student aims to attend a minimum of six of the live deliveries, as this is the ideal platform for asking questions as they arise. This course also provides an active forum for group discussion, which has proven to be a great meeting point for all students in further exploration of course material, irrespective of location and ability to attend live sessions. No student will miss the opportunity to have their questions raised and addressed in a timely manner by Lee.

The course formally commences on Saturday, 3rd August 2019 at 1pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Time: 4pm GMT) with a group tutorial that offers an overview of the content of the course, followed by a live online delivery of lesson one.

Students are asked to join a similar online meeting each week to participate in live delivery of the course material, engage in a group chart discussion, and to explore any questions that may have arisen from previous material. The final session will be held on Saturday, 16th November 2019. The finalised schedule with dates and meeting times for each weekly live session will be sent to enrolled students prior to course commencement.

Course policies, requirements and recommendations:

  • Students on this course do not need to have previous experience in medical astrology. However, this course specialises in advanced-level astrological training and so it is necessary for participants to have a firm understanding of all basic astrological principles, and to have already studied certain principles that are most generally taught as part of the study of horary astrology. For that reason, we recommend delegates to have previously undertaken the STA Practitioners Level Horary Course or to have had a similar level of horary training/experience as a pre-requisite for this course.

  • Chart calculation is not taught as part of this syllabus, except for techniques that are specific to medical astrology (such as the calculation of temperaments, critical periods, etc). Participants will be expected to have had previous experience of drawing up and interpreting astrological charts before undertaking this study of medical astrology.

  • This course is restricted to a small number of enrolments to allow for individual attention, a friendly and encouraging atmosphere and an ideal number of participants for workshop exercises and group-work.

  • Students are required to download a free video conference program, Zoom, to enable interactive online sessions with the tutor and fellow students. It is also necessary to have stable internet access, as all coursework will be done online through the STA Course Portal.

  • The course materials should be accessible on all modern computers (Windows 7 or higher is recommended for Windows based PCs). For any kind of video conference, it is recommended that each participant have 1 Mbps upload, 4 Mbps download of available internet bandwidth. For optimum performance, we recommend using a broadband Internet connection. Poor network performance, lack of memory or high CPU usage may cause the audio quality to drop, become delayed or sound robotic. If you experience this, try closing all applications that are not being used to free up some additional bandwidth.

  • In the unlikely event of the course being cancelled or postponed, the School of Traditional Astrology will refund any course fees and deposits but will not be liable for any other costs incurred by attendees (travel insurance is advisable for this reason).

Cost:

The cost of this course, which includes all online classes, course notes and qualifying certificate is US $575 (or local currency euivalent).
